The Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG) invites you to a hands-on printmaking workshop led by acclaimed printmaker and teaching artist Ernesto Vazquez. Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of paper stencil screenprinting and will create their own handmade print to take home.
Enjoy the creative experience within the vibrant and welcoming setting of Mercado La Paloma, home to delicious food and a dynamic community spirit. This event is free and open to the public; however, space is limited and early arrival is encouraged.
About the Artist
Ernesto Vazquez is an Indigenous Xicano artist based on Tongva land. A skilled illustrator and printmaker, his practice includes linoleum block printing, woodblock, and screen-printing. His work explores political, cultural, and mythological themes, and while his art has been exhibited internationally, he prioritizes showing in local Los Angeles communities. His work is deeply influenced by his upbringing in East Los Angeles and grounded in family, street art, social justice, grassroots organizing, and community empowerment.

Subvertisements: Using Ads and Logos for Protest & Solidarity
The exhibition showcases posters that subvert corporate logos and commercial imagery to critique injustice and spark dialogue. From real boycott campaigns against companies like Nestlé and Tesla to satirical ads confronting war, climate change, and consumerism, the collection uses humor, irony, and powerful visuals to challenge dominant narratives.

El Centro para el Estudio de los Gráficos Políticos (CSPG) te invita a un taller práctico de grabado dirigido por el reconocido artista y educador Ernesto Vázquez. Los participantes aprenderán las técnicas básicas de serigrafía con esténcil de papel y crearán su propia impresión artística.
Disfruta de esta experiencia creativa en el entorno acogedor y vibrante del Mercado La Paloma, un espacio lleno de buena comida y comunidad. El evento es gratuito, pero el cupo es limitado. Se recomienda llegar temprano.
Sobre el Artista
Ernesto Vázquez es un artista Xicano indígena que vive en tierras Tongva. Es ilustrador y grabador, especializado en grabado en linóleo, xilografía y serigrafía. Su obra aborda temas políticos, culturales y mitológicos. Aunque ha expuesto internacionalmente, prefiere compartir su trabajo en comunidades locales de Los Ángeles. Su arte está profundamente influenciado por su infancia en el Este de Los Ángeles, y por su compromiso con la familia, el arte callejero, la justicia social y el poder comunitario.

La exhibición presenta carteles que parodian logotipos corporativos y anuncios comerciales para denunciar la injusticia y promover el diálogo. Desde campañas reales de boicot contra empresas como Nestlé y Tesla, hasta anuncios satíricos sobre la guerra, el cambio climático y el consumismo, la colección utiliza el humor y la ironía para desafiar las narrativas dominantes.

에르네스토 바스케스는 통바족(Tongva) 땅에서 활동하는 치카노(Chicano) 예술가입니다. 리놀륨 판화, 목판화, 실크스크린 등 다양한 기법을 사용하는 일러스트레이터이자 판화가입니다. 그의 작품은 정치적, 신화적, 문화적 주제를 담고 있으며, 국제적으로 전시되었지만 그는 로스앤젤레스 지역 커뮤니티 전시를 더 중요하게 생각합니다. 동부 LA에서의 성장 배경과 가족, 거리 예술, 사회 정의, 공동체 조직 경험이 그의 예술에 깊은 영향을 주었습니다.
